On April 14, CICS Jackson middle school students
took a field trip to Forest City Tennis Center in Rockford,
supported by new relationships with the U.S. Tennis
Association (USTA) and Forest City Tennis Center.
Friends of CICS Tennis provided generous seed funding
to introduce tennis programming on the campus, and
helped facilitate the introduction to the fantastic
individuals and resources at USTA.
After meeting with Forest City Tennis Center’s club
pro, Danny Beeman, earlier in the year, CICS Jackson
administrators worked with Mr. Beeman to plan the event,
which the club accommodated at no cost! In an effort to
promote a love of tennis among Rockford’s youth, Mr. Beeman was able to open the entire club
to our school and give our 6th and 7th grade students the opportunity to play tennis in a top-notch
facility. We are very grateful to the Forest City Tennis Club for accommodating this awesome
outing for our students, and hope to work with them again in the future.
CICS Jackson aims to expose our students to a variety of positive out-of-school activities
and foster a love for sports that they may not have access to otherwise. We would like to
send a huge “thank you” to USTA, Friends of CICS Tennis, and Forest City Tennis Center
for this outstanding opportunity, and for inspiring our students!
